What we do
Through cooperation and collaboration
with local congregations and state and local families, LSMM is able to
make a significant difference in the quality of life of hundreds - if not
thousands of individuals. With a spirit of sharing, we network with Lutheran
social agencies throughout the nation to the benefit of all parties. We
are ready to move forward with the exciting new relationship with the Episcopal
Mississippi Diocese and its parishes.
strengthening families
"Storybook" helps
to maintain the bonds between mothers and their children. Adoption services
have not only strengthened families, it has built families! LSMM addresses
social issues throughout the state, many of which can be traced to the
lack of education and economic opportunity.
education and economic opportunity
A major economic development
program is near implementation in the Delta, and programs and activities
to reinforce and enhance academic skills in children at high risk are being
well received around the state.
services to congregations
LSMM is committed
to providing services to congregations who have an interest in implementing
their own (or cooperative) ministry. When appropriate and possible, LSMM
will help find or provide staffing and leadership to local congregation
social ministries. A congregational planning service is available to help
determine interest in congregation involvement in cooperative ministries
or implementation of a local program.
disaster services
LSMM impacts the community
by providing disaster services to those who have been affected by major
storms. Through Lutheran Disaster Response, LSMM works to rebuild and return
families to their homes and communities.
