Weekly Announcements for September 5-11, 2010 The church office will be closed Monday, September 6, in observance of Labor Day. Quilting will resume on Monday, September 6,at 9:00am till 12:00noon. Please remember to bring a food donation for the food pantry. On September 20, there will be a "Spud Bake" following quilting. Please bring a potato for baking. Men who have helped this year are welcome and you don't have to bring your potato! This year's contribution to LWR was packed and taken over to Daphne, AL, this weekend. Thank you to all who helped load and unload. Thank you also to the congregation for our generous offering of $318 to Project Comfort last Sunday. The Christus Victor Women of the ELCA will meet on Wednesday, September 8, at 10:00am in the church conference room. All women are welcome to attend this planning and business meeting for the activities of WELCA Elsa Wallace is our delegate to the Southeastern Synod WELCA Convention held at Marietta, GA, the weekend of September 10-12. Nancy Edwards and Evelyn Edwards will also be going. Please keep these ladies in your prayers as they travel this week and attend this meeting. Next Sunday, September 12, our worship time will change to 10:30am. This will also start our fall programming kicking off our Rally Day/Parish Fair. All teachers will be installed during the service and classes for 3yr olds to High School will begin on that day. Adults will be able to view the many displays put up by varying ministries within our congregation held in the Parish Hall. Ministry information boards and tables will be set up and there will be coffee and refreshments. Information is available on the front desk in the Narthex on details to set up your area. Worship Training for acolytes and crucifers will be held on September 19. Time will be announced later. If you would like to participate in the ministry fill out a yellow card or contact the church office. We will have an Annual Auction Meeting on September 26 following the 10:30am service. Community Events: Beauvoir United Methodist Church, 2113 Pass Road is having a Yard Sale on September 18 to benefit IHN. Donations can be dropped off from September 1st - September 15th from 9:00am - 1:00 pm at the Methodist Church. The Samaritan Ministry Food Pantry is an ongoing need in our community. The food pantry needs non-perishable food items. You can bring your food items to the church and a volunteer will take it to the pantry. Thank you for your continued support with this ministry. "When You Pray", a workshop on daily practices for prayerful living, will be presented by Dr. Stephen Bryant at the St. Paul Methodist Church, Highway 90, Ocean Springs, on September 25, from 8:30am - 4pm. Dr. Bryant will lead the group to discover more deeply ways that we can be faithful in prayer, either as an individual or a congregation. If you are interested, registration forms are available in the narthex.
